Ana y Jose

1 ½  hour drive from Cancun International Airport, you will find Tulum Mexico,  a hippie  town with amazing beaches and resorts, a place to truly relax.

In Tulum Mexico you have to keep in mind some hotels are really expensive like USD 900 per night the ones I list below are not that expensive.

Where to stay?

Ana y Jose Charming hotel: http://www.anayjose.com/

With only 23 suites and 3 villas, the hotel offers great service, amenities and  food. The beach is to die for, amazing clean waters, to enjoy a time of peace or a nice swim on the ocean.

Ana y Jose hotel has 2 other  great hotels

Coral http://www.coraltulum.com/

Which is a little more upscale. Each suite has a private balcony and a pool, air conditioning and satellite TV.

  Hip Hotel http://www.hiphoteltulum.com/

Nice hotel different beach from Ana y Jose, the sea was calm, the service, was great, the same as in Ana y Jose.

As I stayed at the Ana y Jose I could go to either hotel to have breakfast and spend the day, we went to Hip Hotel.

Non of this had a pool (which if you are traveling with kids, as I did sometimes they get tired of the beach and prefer to be at the pool).

Be Tulum  http://betulum.com/

This hotel is adult only. I haven’t stayed  but my parents went several times and they were delighted with the service, the hotel and the food. And it has great reviews on TripAdvisor you are welcome to check them out. This Hotel is definitely on my list to stay in Tulum next time I travel without my kids.

Where to eat?

I didn’t find Tulum Mexico as an incredible place to eat.

I mean it is not like other places where you will find excellent restaurants, plus for Mexicans it is expensive a dinner for 4 at any place on the hotel zone can be up to 2000 pesos (aprox 100 USD)  without alcohol.

But I did find a couple of nice places and also at downtown Tulum we ate a lot better and it was a lot more cheaper!

Hotel Zone

La Popular it is inside hotel Nomade.

You can go to have lunch or dinner it has nice setting which takes place on the beach.

Great seafood the service was not what we expected but we complained and got a discount.

Hartwood: it is from a renowned NYC chef

It is hard to get in as they don’t take reservations I didn’t even try, and it is very expensive.

       Pizzas La Onda

Nice place to have a pizza, they have a wood fired oven where the pizza comes out really crispy and delicious!

         La Zebra beach restaurant

Haven’t been but it was one of my list unfortunately I had to leave it for next time it has amazing reviews!

      Raw Love

If you are a fan of the açai bowls and matcha bowls this is the place. Great place to have a nice breakfast or an afternoon snack!

La gloria de Don Pepe; instagram @lagloriadedonpepe

Don’t miss this excellent Spanish Restaurant just around the corner from Centauro Ave.

The paella is the best they serve it with the pan so you can scratch the last piece of rice.

Delicious tapas and amazing service.

-Ki- bok cafe, this is the best coffee in town, great setting!

El Baccaro:

A lot of the tables around me where Italian people so that tells me that this is a true Italian place!

Great pasta, pizza and desserts. Service was also great.
